Our Story
From a TV Screen to a Global Foundation
Se Fanm ,meaning "She is Woman" in Haitian Creole began as a television program in Haiti, created to give voice to the issues affecting women every day. What started as a local broadcast grew into something far greater: an international foundation with a mission to educate, defend, and uplift women everywhere.
Founded by Gaelle Castor, who grew up in a neighborhood that became a slum in Port-au-Prince, Se Fanm Foundation Inc. was born from lived experience, a deep love for Haiti, and an unshakeable belief that women are the cornerstone of any strong society. Today, Se Fanm Foundation operates across health, education, culture, and environmental sectors reaching women from Haiti to the world.
